575 Bombardier Challenger 604/605s are currently on the FAA registry, the long-range, large-cabin evolution of Bombardier's original Challenger business jet. The 604 and 605 (and the later 601-3A/601-3R variants) share the same underlying type certificate, and the model has been a staple of corporate flight departments and charter operators for decades.
Why a long production run needs a history check
A multi-decade production run means many Challenger 604/605 airframes have passed through several owners, charter fleets or flight departments over their service life. That is exactly where a current-tail-only search falls short: the FAA can reissue a cancelled N-number to a different airframe after five years (14 CFR 47.15/47.17), so checking only today's registration can miss an accident filed under a prior tail -- or wrongly attach a different jet's history to the one you're buying. Only a serial-number cross-match tells the two apart.
What a $79 report adds
Current FAA registration status, prior registrants, recent FAA filings (bills of sale, security agreements/liens), full NTSB accident and incident history, and the serial-number cross-match that catches an accident hiding under a prior tail number.
